you know what you're really not supposed to do? use notes. notes are bad. i didn't know, but i left a note for my roommates and one of them gave me a condescending lecture, so it must be true. the other just responded to the note (which said feel free to have some of my pizza, and fyi i'm getting a new couch this weekend). but anyway, the one who freaked must be right and i must be ashamed for doing something so weird and out of line as using a note.

Re: oh gosh, i was SOO BADDD
Fri, October 7, 2005 - 8:54 AMoh and then there was another note asking for a receipt for my rental payment, which i left with my rental payment under his door. took the money never responded to the note. later told me not to ever use notes again because it gives an air of seriousness. how innappropriate that i should sound serious about a serious matter, and leave a note because he is never awake when i'm getting shit done in the morning. -

Fri, October 7, 2005 - 1:57 PMthat's total bullshit. notes are only taboo when they communicate nothing but drama.
smack him around a bit till he comes to his senses. -

Re: oh gosh, i was SOO BADDD
Fri, October 7, 2005 - 5:04 PMyeah, I agree! My roommate and I leave notes for each other all the time, if it is a money matter or something very matter-of-fact. Or sometimes to invite the person to do something later that week/night, or to invite the other person to eat food. If the other person is asleep or not around, it's really the only good way to communicate. Unless... maybe you should get one of those mini recorders that journalists use and start leaving voice notes. HAH! But anyway, I'm with althaea, notes are only bad if they communicate drama, or if they are laden with dramatic subtext. It sounds like your roommate is a little anal about that. He must have had a bad experience with notes in the past. poor guy.
On another note (buh-dum...), I wonder if he was bent about giving you a receipt? I mean, it's a fair enough request, but sometimes people get ouchie about proof-of-payment type things. Not that he *should* be ouchie about that, but perhaps it contributed to his bitchiness. -
